The Self-Pace Course Enrollment
- Full Tuition: $3290 or a payment plan of $195 a month for 18 months (Tuition beginning May 15, 2016 - $3790.)
- Tools can be purchased separately from a Piano Supply company. Basic tools for the Tuning Course are about $225. Basic tools for the Technical Course begin at about $350. Grand and Vertical Action models, along with other necessary items for the technical instruction, must be obtained from external sources. The local chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild can often loan you these models, or you can purchase them directly from the Piano Technicians Guild.
- Phone and email consultations are included in the tuition fee.
- Live tutoring sessions are also included.
- Optional 4-month extensions are available for $750 if needed.
Terms of Enrollment
By enrolling in the school, you agree to abide by all the current standards and policies outlined by The Butler School of Piano Technology.
You further accept and agree that you will not in any way or form copy, reproduce, or share with anyone any written material, the Video Library, or any other form of the material provided by and received from the Butler School of Piano Technology as operated by Richard James Butler, Jr. and agents and representatives of Richard James Butler, Jr. Any materials provided by Butler School of Piano will be limited to your personal use and benefit solely.
If a student withdraws from the school, tuition fees will not be refunded. If you choose to enroll in the payment plan, please note that you are still required to pay the full tuition, regardless of whether you finish the course ahead of schedule.

Aural Tuning and Repair Course
Once you complete the enrollment form, you will be directed to a page to pay the tuition. You may choose to pay the full amount or opt for the installment payment plan. Subsequently, either Kate or I will contact you. We will then send you your credentials and the URL to access the entire program, which includes all written materials, instructional videos, written and aural examinations.
